Student Profiles – Chitsna

[thb_bigtext]I am Chitsna, 24 years old. I come from a fishing village in Stung Treng Town. Currently I am working with Le Tonlé Tourism Training Center as a housekeeper and trainer.[/thb_bigtext] I finished high school in 2010 but I had no ability to continue my further education or training. I had to work in the field with my other two elder sisters during rainy season and went fishing during dry season along Sekong River.In October, 2012 I started a vocational training with Le Tonlé. After spending a year with the center, I found a big improvement within myself. I absorb several important skills and knowledge such as computer, English, housekeeping, cooking and food and beverage service. I also learn to live and work with many different people there. The training center offers me a healthy growth and development.

Tonlé has become my second family since my first enrollment day.

My family and I were very happy that the center selected me to be one of the staff members after my graduation. Working here not only provides me a fairly good income to support my family but also teaches me more about tourism business which can help me to set up my own business in the future. The good training program plus with the warmth care and invaluable advices from staff members have led me to be who I am today. Without the training center, I might work hard in the field or river to support the family. Tonlé has become my second family since my first enrollment day.

Finally, I would like to convey all my heartfelt thanks to Tourism for Help who funds the program. Without Tourism for Help, I am not able to have this big improvement. I also would like to express my deep appreciation to Le Tonlé and CRDT staff members who always give me guidance to develop and improve myself. Last but certainly not least, I want the training center extends its training program so that more disadvantage Cambodians will be assisted to have a decent work.
